Pyrokinesis...or is it pyrogenesis, technically? Either way, I'm enjoying the day. Probably more than others. If anyone would could use some help controlling themselves, I'd be happy to offer some assistance. I do believe there's been plenty of advice on the Network already, however.

The nature of firestarters has always intrigued me, in our books and movies. I do wonder how realistic it is- I would think that if one had such a volatile power, they'd either pull in on themselves or work continuously for control. However, the firestarters I've seen in the media are all cocky, impulsive, even flakey. What sort of sense does that make?

So this is, what, two curses that aren't particularly terrible? For me, anyway. I do hope people are getting through the day without setting the whole City on fire. I didn't get much done on Tuesday, but the tea was wonderful.

The working toward control thing was a theme in Firestarter I minor one though, since Stephen King loves him some guvmint conspiracies and psychotic hitmen.

It's probably the perception that personality should match talent. Fire is bright and flashy, so depending on if your culture sees it that way, you're going to assume that the personality type to have pyrokinesis is gonna be flashy and cocky. Possibly if someone though of fire as something like magma or a lava flow, they migh have different idea of what the pyrokinetic's personality is like.

Considering the books of his I've read, Stephen King also liked convoluted endings. I do remember control being an issue in Firestarter, however.

I like your theory. In this case, the ability stems at least somewhat from the person's base personality themselves, so it fits them. Over time, though, there'd likely to be a shift toward control. The magma-base would be more like an unstoppable force, someone more deliberate, I'm guessing. Hmmm, it would be interesting to see how different cultures would interpret it.

What can I say? It's been a good day.

It's good to see you back, Claire. Did you get 'cursed' today, too?

Well, not now.

No, I actually wasn't planning on making any jokes about that, but you know how fickle I am.

How are you today, Claire?

Oh, come on, what's the harm in it? Especially here, we aren't going to remember any of it when we return.

Here, I'll get the ball rolling. It's not about my death, is it? That's about the only thing I can think of that'd make you so pleased.

If not hate, then envy. I'm not entirely likable and I don't dress up my words.

Aren't you scared?

If you're worried, you can come stay with me again. I can stop fires before they spread, make others very sorry for bothering.

I might not be scared, but I do have my guard up this month.

There are spells for it, I've read about some, but there are simpler ways to fight --I mean, rather than make so much noise and mess when you kill.

I must sound so horrible.

Not at all. I'm sure as far as magic goes, there's more efficient ways to go about it- if you're going about it. I'm not sure why someone would use fire instead- just for effect, I suspect.

However, are there fire spells that aren't for fighting? Just lighting a fire, or lighting your way? You'd get much more use out of those, I imagine.
