[Flagged to the police force -- public]

Hey everyone, remember that passover scare we had awhile ago? Some of us sacrificed lambs, some of us saved them, some of us just ignored them?

Everyone in that first group- the sheep are after you in particular. All you pacifists can feel free to laugh in our faces. I still believe we were justified.

And I'm not sure if this means the pacifists are safe. I personally wouldn't test out that theory. As with most angry mobs, I'm pretty sure this one won't care about collateral damage.

So- I know not everyone's going to go for it, but if anyone wants some help getting around the City, let me know.

And don't think you won't have any problems, just because they're sheep, or because you know how to fight. They're getting better at using distractions to try and attack from another side. Unless you can keep them away from you entirely, you're not safe.

[ooc: Of course, my net decides to go wonky right after I post this. Apologies if tags are slow or drop out. Feel free to assume seeing Sylar running around town or helping your character out. He's still in a bad mood from Mother's Day and may be enjoying bisecting sheep more than he should be. >_> ]

You forgot one important detail.

Pacifism? Wouldn't their culpability be a better way to describe it? Those who committed the crime versus those who refused to do it...

...Why am I perceiving this as a religious plague now? Hmm... Well, that would go well with the whole Passover theme of the curse in which the sheep came to us originally.

[ooc; this is what happens when you're studying for a class on the perception of disease historically...]

And I'm sure you're about to tell me what that is.

I had wondered if that might be the connection behind these attacks.

I say we were justified. The plagues followed the pattern laid out in the Old Testament. I wouldn't have been at all surprised if the 'deities' had carried it out completely. That they didn't was the real surprise. We were perfectly justified, given our expectations.

You think butchering lambs was a crime?

Because you took out a vampire hunter, I'm going to be charitable and overlook the sarcasm.

The infected, whose numbers are growing.

I've talked to the one in charge- seems that it is.

And that's exactly what I told her. We only have the deities' ridiculous rules and curses to go by here. If they set rules and then change them- especially if the price is a few lambs for our lives- they can't expect us not to try and save ourselves.

Which is what I'm doing now, as well.

To us? Maybe not... They're just "cattle" if you will: foodstock or protection in this case... but to them? Murder. That's how my kind basically saw the killing of a human... so the concept of looking from both perspectives should apply.

It does explain it.

You know, the last time this sort of thing happened, it was because the 'deities' had broken the rules and their higher-ups or whatever they are had to come and try to set things to rights. That was what happened a year ago when Adrastus and his mother paid a visit. And I think that was the same story when the man who said he was the architect of the City appeared.

Could that be happening again? We're the victims here when the 'deities' are the ones who made the mistake.

I think we've every reason in the world to fight back.

What about them? They're the end result of this whole thing.

I still wouldn't describe it as culpability. No one knew it was a crime then. The only thing the people who sacrificed the lambs were guilty of was following the rules, as set by the curses.

Especially in this City. Good point.

You staying inside, Nancy?

Does one have to know that they are committing a crime, in order to accused and therefore punished for it?

Rules are fluid... what is law changes from day to day, especially here in the City. It's like one day we're subject to a version of Roman law, then the next we have customary law.

You're right, this is very similar to Adrastus. And once again, we're the ones paying for it. Great.

I'm starting to wonder if there isn't anyone we could make a formal complaint to- then I remember we're all trapped here against our own will. ...well, most of us.

Glad someone agrees with me.

Yeah, actually. Especially with things like this.

It's the rules that really get to me. They're completely arbitrary and generally make no sense. And they change, like you said. So what we all end up doing is pretty much whatever we feel like. You think that's what they were going for?

Of course.

Having fun, then? Want to meet up?

It's hit and miss. Yes, let's meet up. I'm not far from the lake. Follow the smoke.

Smoke? Sure thing. Should I expect a barbecue?

Since yesterday, I've been about the City, observing. The 'end result' have physical dexterity the sheep lack.

So locking doors is a good idea, that's basically what you're saying?

Expect a bit of everything. I've had to be creative. Smoke is most visible.

No, killing them is. A locked door only buys time.

I suppose we could try to contact the ones who are higher in rank than the 'deities'. Although this newcomer--I suppose we could call her a shepherdess--doesn't seem as though she'd listen at all.
